Video Tutorial - Salsa: Lesson 11/12 Variation of the Salsa - Salsa is a very energetic Latin dance. Lots of fun, complete with spins, sharp movement, and crisp turns.
Salsa is originally Cuban with deep Afro-Caribbean beats, and additional musical influences from Son, Guaguancó, Rumba. This dance is also similar to Mambo in that both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music.
Salsa is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms, line dancing (suelta), and Rueda de Casino where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle.
The name “salsa” is the Spanish word for sauce, connoting, in American Spanish, a spicy flavor. Salsa also suggests a “mixture” of ingredients.
It’s a great dance to learn if you want to break into the latin club scene all over the world!

La Salsa è una danza latina molto energica. Divertente, ricca di movimenti veloci, giri, e passi scoppiettanti. La Salsa ha origine a Cuba, ma ha un’influenza ritmica afro-caraibica, e per certi versi è simile alla Rumba e al Mambo.
La Salsa è normalmente una danza che si balla in coppia, ma sono state riconosciute anche altre forme, come i balli di gruppo (Suelta), e la Rueda de Casino dove diverse coppie ballano scambiandosi i partner in cerchio.
Il nome “salsa” proviene dalla lingua spagnola, più precisamente dall’ America Latina, e ricorda in sapore piccante, speziato. La parola Salsa suggerisce anche un mix di ingredienti.
